How to use our product

Our philosophy is simple. Each person using our product should use “The loosest embouchure possible with the fastest air possible for every given note!” when they perform on the instrument. As you can see in the video above, we want to avoid smiling, frowning or a bunched up chin when we perform. Instead of biting to fix the pitch, make certain you utilize a fast speed of air to stabilize the sound.

Social Impact

Bravo Bassoon Reeds is dedicated to music advocacy and helping others. We have three components of Social Good built into our business model.
 

The first component is the reed itself! By providing a better reed to young bassoonists, those musicians can sound and play better. The better you sound, the more fun it is to play music and involvement in the arts helps people to be well rounded citizens of the world.
 

Our second component of social good is how we treat our independent contractors. Our reed makers are paid per finished product rather than by the hour. This encourages the highest level of productivity. With a flexible schedule and the opportunity to make a decent wage while doing meaningful work, our music student contractors are freed from fast food work and have more time available to devote to academic and musical endeavors.
 

BBR will give back by donating reeds to the Rachel Elizabeth Barton Foundation. With every purchase of one of our premium reeds, Bravo Bassoon Reeds will donate a student reed to Global Heartstrings, an organization dedicated to providing Classical musicians in developing countries with supplies that they are not able to attain on their own.
 

Our final component of social good is giving back. Bravo Bassoon Reeds donates a portion of its proceeds to the bassoon studio at Bowling Green State University. The company gives free supplies and tools to the entire studio, not just our fine reed makers. We believe that while in school everyone should have an equal opportunity to improve their craft. We are dedicated to making that happen.
